Since 8 January, a smear campaign orchestrated by the entourage of Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, grows in the Hungarian media against several philosophers (Agnes Heller, Mihály Vajda, Sándor Radnóti ...), accused of texts written against retribution "smoky and unnecessary" and have soiled the image of the country. It is not there a single attack: the calumnies with which these researchers are the purpose and legal proceedings against them are part of a commitment to bringing to heel the Hungarian intellectual world, as evidenced by the addition of a dismissal of the members of the Academy of Sciences, or the public stigmatization of homosexuality by the Director of the National Theatre of Budapest . This climate attests to the development in the heart of Europe, an ideology and a policy clearly contrary to the principles of democratic rights and freedom of research.
Attentive, since its inception in the unconditional nature of these requirements, and the memory of the division including several intellectuals in question were both key players, the International College Philosophy wished to show its support by inviting Agnes Heller in Paris for an exceptional meeting at the Odeon - Theatre of Europe. This meeting will be held Monday, March 14, 2011 at 20:30, will participate including Gianni Vattimo and Vincent Peillon, MEPs and philosophers, and Marc Semo, a journalist for Libération .
Invitation is launched by the Odeon-Theatre de l'Europe, Director of the National Theatre of Budapest. This meeting will be a moment of reflection and vigilance in the face of how a European country intends to Trust policy research, and return methods thought to be definitively disappeared from our continent.
